KTM Resort (19 - 20 April 2008)

It's been a long time since we had a trip together. It's also been about 6 years since we last went to Batam, Indonesia.

So, as a belated birthday gift to Garf, we headed down to Batam for a weekend getaway. Jhan had just finished her nite shift before we met at Harbourfront to catch the 10.40am ferry to Sekupang, Batam.

After a 45 mins ferry ride, we were greeted by our driver who brought us to KTM Resort. We stayed at Room C8 which is a two-bedroom cottage with a balcony which made us feel very contented. The view was utterly fantastic!! See http://ktmresort.com/

There was also a kitchen and dining cum living area. Unfortunately, there was something terribly wrong with my digital camera and the battery went dead despite the one night of charging. And I didn't bring the charger either.

However, I managed to take some pics of the birthday girl which matters the most on the trip.

We checked-in, rested, snacked, smoked and enjoyed the view. Then, we rented a cab for 6 hours to shop in town. Had nasi padang, rootbeer floats from A & W, and bought a couple of shirts, mangoes, keropok, and durians. Seafood dinner was at the resort with cereal prawns, butter sotong, baby kailan with oyster sauce, fish and plain rice. Later that night, Jhan and Garf stayed up till the wee hours while I finally caught up with my much-needed sleep.

The following morning, I was the first to get up. After breky, we went for a foot and head & shoulder massage (http://batamspavilla.com/) facing the ocean and listening to the waves. Total bliss!!

Jhan and I slept some more before we checked-out. Then, we headed down to Batam Centre Mall with our trusted cab driver from the day before and bought 4 dozens of donuts from J-Co. I was irritated by a bunch of Chinese Singaporeans who were acting their usual irritating self, of course.

Then, it was back to Singapore. But, we hadn't even reached Singapore when we planned our next trip together again.
